Weather Worries

December 15th, 2007 · 1 Comment

I’ve just returned from doing various errands.  It’s a wintry day and the snow has dusted everything in our neighborhood including the neighborhood streets.  The main streets and parking lots of the merchants were clear.  The thing is, there is a snow storm “coming”.  Several things I had planned for the weekend have been cancelled.  The weatherman on TV, on the internet, on the radio keeps droning on about the storm that’s coming.  I am aware of the thousands who have lost power due to storms earlier in the week.  I think Oklahoma was hit hard with power outages in particular.  Still, I can’t help feeling a bit resentful that I’m supposed to be worried about something that may or may not happen.  One of my errands was to a store that was nearly empty.  He told me he felt that people were “afraid of the weather” to come out already.  I can still remember waking up to beautiful snow falls as a child.  I don’t think my parents were terribly worried before the fact.  I also am one of those people who stays in if there is nothing to do, but if I have something to do or somewhere I must go, I don’t let snow stop me.  Only when it’s obviously dangerous or there are official warnings to stay off the roads will I stop doing what I want to do.  I just don’t need one more thing to worry about that is only a “maybe”.  How about everyone out there?

Just reporting in – we had about a foot of (beautiful) snow today. Being that it was Sunday, it lessened the Talking Heads on TV, sqawking about drive time heartaches, etc. It was just a lovely white wintery day! Perfect for the Holiday mood!
